Italy is facing hard times at the moment due to the Covid-19 outbreak. On Wednesday March 11th, the Italian Prime Minister, Giuseppe Conte, has imposed lockdown meausures to the whole country. Due to the state of emergency and procedures made in place in terms of security by the Italian government, our office, like everything else in the country, will remain closed and our tours suspended until April the 13rd, unless further communication. Unfortunately we are all imposed to stay home.

COVID-19 is impacting our country, our businesses and our community. We make the difficult decision to cancel a trip with traveler safety paramount in mind, compliance with laws and medical guidelines, and the best interests of the traveler experience at heart.
It's a gut-wrenching time for all of us. It's devastating for our people, employees, and local communities , not to mention our business. We know it's also incredibly frustrating and disappointing for you as a traveler too. This is a hard time for all of us, with a once-in-a-century global pandemic. There are no playbooks on how to handle something like this in the travel industry, but rest assured that we aim to do the right thing for all our stakeholders - with travelers forefront, but also including our valuable employees and guides who have worked so hard in these past years and are risking to loose their jobs and also all the local communities that are impacted by tourism.
We are a small, locally owned and operated business. We have limited funds which have already committed to hotels, employees, and local transportation partners etc. We know tensions are running high, and we share your concerns. We urge our entire global community to think and act like a community, supporting each other, giving the benefit of the doubt, and empathizing with the struggles of others. Here at Italy on a Budget we are very stressed and worried about the whole situation as we don't know if our business will get through this hard time. For this reason we can only offer you the possibility to hold your reservation and reschedule it to a later date and tour. Whether it’s next week, in a month or a year, we WILL travel again. Do not cancel your trip, change date, save Tourism, Save our business. I also take a moment to thank personally all customers who have been working with us in moving their bookings and I hope many others will do the same.
Italy has been declared a country in a state of emergency and we are unable to carry out our business regularly due to the restricitons applied. Therefore all the conditions, rights and duties of both the operator and the client, set out in the contract of the terms and conditions are no longer valid and falls under " cases of force majeure ".
In order to protect, defende, support and safeguard all Italian business operating in tourism, due to the tragic economical damages that the Corona Virus has caused to the country, The Italian government officially issued in March 2020 the legislative decree n. 28 art. 1463 c.c to regulate the reimbursements required to Italian Operators for tourist packages and tourist reservations. According to the official Italian law, all reservations can be postponed to other dates or can be refunded by the operators in the only form of a credit voucher corresponding to the 100% value spent for future use within a year from the issue date. The Voucher may be used for tours of the equal value or more, are also transferrable.
For those clients who are enquiring about their bookings departing from May , we kindly ask you to wait until we all have a clear picture of the world status as the situation is unforeseeable and in fast-changing and completely out of both of our and your control. We need to stay positive and strong and all this will be over soon.
As it stands, and unless we receive advice, on the contrary, we will continue to operate our summer schedule as planned.
But don’t worry, you’ll be given the choice to change your dates or destination up to 30 days prior departure free of charge for travel anytime in 2020 or 2021. You’ll be issued with a full credit of all monies paid to use towards another journey with us.
If you change your dates to a future trip we’ll honour all discounts on your booking and we won't apply any administration fees. That means you’ll just need to pay any difference in price due to seasonality.
As we know the difficult time both the traveler and the operator are living, for those direct bookings we will give you an extra 20% credit on top of what you have paid to use to upgrade your tour or add extra activities or book more tours.
