Day 1: Rome  - Pompeii - Naples

Meet up with our Italy on a Budget tour leader in the morning and travel by train from Rome towards the South of Italy, the land of great food, passion, sun and old traditions. Our first stop will be Naples where our top rated hostel is located. After checking in and a bit of time to freshen up we will head to our next stop of the tour: Pompeii

Free time to explore the UNESCO world heritage site buried by the eruption of Mt. Vesuvius in AD 79 and one of the most significant proofs of Roman civilization. Pompeii, like an open book, will provide outstanding information on the art, customs, trades and everyday life of the past.

Back to Naples in the afternoon where you will be taken for an orientation walk around the center and to scenic points of the coast to enjoy the sunset. Stop in some shops to taste limoncello and local products before we head down for dinner in a traditional restaurant for the best Neapolitan pizza of your life.

Day 2: Amalf Coast ; Amalfi, Positano & Ravello 

Depart in the morning  by private van/coach for a full day trip to the Amalfi coast and its wonders  with sheer cliffs and a rugged shoreline dotted with small beaches and pastel-colored fishing villages. Our first stop will be the town of POSITANO where you will fall in love with its cascade of colourful houses. At your own peace, relax at the beach of this amaizing village and grab a bite on one of the typical shop selling fresh local food or spoil yourself buying some sandals hand made by the local artisans to bring home as the perfect souvenir of the trip. 

The trip will then continue towards AMALFI,  the capital of the maritime republic between 839 and around 1200 and the perfect place where to taste a freshly made Rum Baba and Neapolitan cannolo . Here you will have free time to relax on the beach or visit one of the most stunning Italian cathedral.

Our last stop on the Amalfi coast will be RAVELLO, an enchanting mountaintop setting on Italy’s most beautiful coastline also named the city of music with those views that have captivated countless souls, inspired artists and filled hearts with passion

Back to Naples in the evening. 

Day 3: Naples - Rome

Spend the entire morning crusing the streets of Naples famous for its shopping, monuments and views of the Mt Vesuvius. We will catch the train back to Rome in the early afternoon right after lunch.  We return at 4:00pm approx

Tour to Amalfi Coast from Rome - 3 days/ 2 nights

DETAILED ITINERARY:

Day 1: Rome to Naples - Visit of Pompeii

Our trip to Amalfi coast will depart from Termini train station in Rome at 9:00am by train towards the south. After a 1h ride we will reach our first stop Naples. We will check in our hostel in Naples and we will travel to Pompeii, the UNESCO world Heritage destroyed and buried under 4 to 6 m of ashes and pumice in the eruption of the Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. In Pompeii you will have free time to explore the ruins at your own peace ( entry ticket included )or organize with your guide a 2h guided tour with a professional local guide for € 15 extra. 

In the evening your guide will take you for an orientation walk around the center of Naples and to a limoncello shop where you will be able to learn how this typical liqueur is produced and obviously taste it at the end. Then join the guide to a local restaurant for a delicious dinner based on the famous Napolitan pizza.

Day 2: Day tour to AMALFI COAST 

Our second day is all for the Amalfi coast and its wonders. 

During the journey to Positano we will pass by the Island of GALLI (Isola di Nurejev) and Praiano, the quietest village on the Amalfi coast, famous for its crystal-clear seas that are awarded the Bandiera Blu (Blue Flag) for cleanliness, the encompassing views and its cathedral located 365m above the sea level. Once in Positano you will fall in love with its cascade of colourful houses, its pastel buildings and narrow, threadlike streets that provide boutiques, cafes, restaurants and bars. 

Second stop will be in Amalfi  to allow you to discover the town at your own peace and its famous cathedral, lie down at the beach and have a bite on one of the typical shop selling fresh local food.  Here you will have the option to visit the GROTTA DELLO SMERALDO.

Our last stop on the Amalfi coast will be RAVELLO, an enchanting mountaintop setting on Italy’s most beautiful coastline also named the city of music with those views that have captivated countless souls, inspired artists and filled hearts with passion.Back to Naples in the evening. 

Day 3: Naples and back to Rome

Spend the entire morning crusing the streets of Naples famous for its shopping, monuments and views of the Mt Vesuvius. We will catch the train back to Rome in the early afternoon right after lunch.  We return at 4:00pm approx

Transportation from and to the airport Fiumicino of Rome

By train
The Leonardo Express is the direct train that serves the route between the airport and the centre of the city of Rome every 30 minutes.

- Trains from Termini depart from the track 24 on the right. Ticket costs euro 11, available at the counter as well as the Termini news stand. Tickets sold at the departure platform are more expensive. Get your ticket stamped in a yellow validation machine just before using it. Ticket expires 90 minutes after validation.
The ultramodern train Leonardo Express,  covers the distance in 30 minutes.
There is also the possibility to use the older technology city’s metropolitan train that has a correspondence with the Metro. The metropolitan train FM1 links the airport of Rome with the regions Roma Tiburtina, Fara Sabina, Poggio Mirteto and Orte.
The Metropolitan train leaves from the track on the left but does not stop at Termini. Get off at Tiburtina Station or at Ostiense Station to connect to the Rome Metro.
